Spring Chinook Fishery Reopens This Weekend on Columbia River
OLYMPIA - The spring chinook fishery will reopen this weekend (May 19-20) for two days of fishing on a section of the Columbia River stretching 163 miles upstream from Bonneville Dam.
Anglers fishing those waters will be allowed to keep two marked hatchery adult chinook per day. All wild, unmarked chinook must be released unharmed.
Louisiana Safe Boating Week Set For May 19-25
Louisiana is once again participating in the national "Safe Boating Week" that is scheduled for May 19-25 and signifies the beginning of the spring and summer boating season.
The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) will again be reminding all boaters to be safe, responsible and knowledgeable while on the water during this safe boating week. Safe Boating Week is a time for all boaters to inspect their vessels to ensure that all required safety equipment is on board and that vessels are in good working condition.

ODFW boat inspectors find invasive mussels on two boats
SALEM, Ore.—During the first week of inspection operations, Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife boat inspectors discovered invasive mussels on two boats: one in Central Point and one in La Grande. One boat was decontaminated; the other is scheduled to be decontaminated this week. The Central Point boat held destructive quagga mussels; the owner had used the boat in Lake Havasu, Arizona. The La Grande boat contained zebra mussels and had been in Saginaw Bay, Michigan.

Indiana muskie guide business growing
A growing industry has emerged in northeast Indiana to help anglers catch muskies, and the local economy is benefiting.
About 10-15 professional muskie fishing guides now operate in northeastern Indiana-a direct result of Indiana's successful muskie stocking program, according to DNR fisheries biologist Jed Pearson.
NMFH Youth Fishing Rodeo May 19
The Visitor Education Center (VEC) at Enid will host the annual MDWFP youth fishing rodeo on Saturday, May 19th. Registration begins at 7:00 a.m. and continues until 10 a.m. This free event is for youth ages 15 and younger. The VEC pond will bestocked with catfish for this youth activity. Young anglers should bring their own fishing equipment and bait along with a container to take their catch home. Food will be served and prizes will be awarded. This event is a great opportunity for young anglers to catch their first fish or to practice their fishing techniques before hitting the local lakes and ponds!
Trio Arrested for Sturgeon Poaching
State game wardens have arrested three Olivehurst men on suspicion of sturgeon poaching on the Bear River. While serving search and arrest warrants at the suspects' homes on May 12, Department of Fish and Game (DFG) wardens also discovered evidence of deer and bear poaching.
